3 Things Thursday | American Love

Welcome to 3 Things Thursday. This is a weekly link up where we invite bloggers to join us and share three fun events, finds, or random thoughts from their week. If you want to join in, directions are at the bottom of the post!

Each week when I sit down to write my 3 Things Thursday post, I realize what a bad blogger I’ve been! It feels like I’ve been neglecting the blog  lately, but things have been so hectic on the work front that I’m struggling to keep up. That’s the thing about being self-employed; when things get busy, there is only one person to pick up the slack, me!

This week I have two really fun things to share and one serious one…american girl robson street chapters

1. American Girl Boutique

Last week Z and I got invited to check out the new American Girl Boutique at the Chapters on Robson Street by my editor at Urban Mommies. I had heard of American Girl before but had never been to a store, and didn’t know what to expect.

The event itself was super fun (thanks to the team at Indigo Chapters), but it was also a really cool concept. The dolls are an investment at $125 each, but they are tall dolls and very well made. I like that they encourage you to buy one really special doll and get accessories for it, not to buy one of every doll. So much less clutter than all the bins of Barbie stuff, plus the house, and the cars!

There is also a salon in the store and you can take your doll in to have it’s ears pierced and hair done from time to time. Too cute for words! Z and I planning a day back downtown during summer holidays to get Izzy’s ears pierced! I’m sure her big sister Zara will have some tips for her.

2. Om Bracelet from Alex and Ani

I’m in love with this jewelry line, but the piece that really has my heart is this Om bracelet. Om is symbol that’s really special to me because of it’s connect to Lord Shiva, but it’s hard to find it used in a classy and appropriate way on jewelry; this piece definitely fits the brief.

Alex and Ani is an American brand (I just realized two of my 3 things are this week), but I really like the hometown pride and community feel that they have. If you happen to support an American football team, you will love this collection!

3. Look Up!

So this is serious – I think I’m addicted to my cell phone. I saw this video the other day and it really hit me…

While I’m not lonely by any means and spend a lot of time doing things with my family and friends, it still feels like I spend too much time looking at screens. I don’t want to declare that I’m going on some big detox, and I couldn’t really quit screens and technology all together for a set amount of time, because my business is online, but it’s time for a change. I’m thinking of starting small; maybe we’ll shut off screens for one or two hours a day every evening and work on going outside daily? If you have any suggestions I’d love to hear them!

Now it’s your turn, I want to know 3 Things that you’ve been thinking about this week! Write a post and link up below. Just a few rules (well requests really). Please link back to one or all of the hostesses; Raj from Pink Chai Living, Nisha from Love Laugh Mirch, or Salma from The Write Balance, and share a link to your post not your blog’s home page. Feel free to use 3 Things badge in your post.

The American Dolls look like so much fun! And you’re definitely not alone when it comes to screen time. I like the idea of dedicated time to have screens off :)

Hmm maybe screens off is a good idea – I realized yesterday when I was on a walk with the girls that I don’t even go for a 30 minute walk in my neighborhood without my phone! Not to say I am constantly looking at it but why take it then :/

The doll is very cute, it will be so fun to get her ears pierced!
