3 Things Thursday: This & That

Oh Thursday, sweet Thursday; here to remind me that there is only one more day until the weekend, and to rub it in my face that I’m never quite prepared for 3 Things Thursday. It’s not like I don’t know it’s coming, but I’m always writing my post at the last minute.

Thankfully, wordiness and collecting random nonsense information are my gifts so I can usually pull something together on the spot. Since I’m particularly unprepared today I’m just going to free write, the first 3 Things that pop into my head are going to be my ‘3 Things’ and go…..Queen, Girlfriends, Pecksniff Candles.

1. Queen – the Movie

I finally watched the movie Queen last week, and I literally wanted to give Kangana Ranaut a standing ovation at the end of the film (but that would have been weird since I was alone in my living room). Such an important movie for young women to watch, and so much fun for those of us that are a little older and might have already learned the same lessons the heroine does about men, marriage, and putting yourself first.

I’m not a huge fan of Kangana, but then I read somewhere that Aamir Khan watched the movie and complemented her work, and I’ m a sheep when it comes to Aamir; if Aamir says it’s good, it’s good. Anyway, the point of this ramble; it’s damn good, watch it!

(Disclaimer: it’s not a family movie and not for kids, but if you have girls that are in their teens, I would suggest this film for them)

2. Girlfriends

The older I get the more I realize it’s okay to have fewer girlfriends, but those you do have need to be people you can count on, and more importantly; people that will build you up not tear you down.

I am so blessed to have a strong circle of friends (I would list them, but I’ll definitely miss someone), and wouldn’t make it through the crazy frantic days without them. The last few months have been really hard for me with balancing work, blogging, the kids, and some of my crazy insecurities, and I couldn’t have done it without my girls. Kisses to my friends who live near and far today.

3. Pecksniff Candles

So I found these Rose & Peony candles at Home Sense a few weeks ago and I’m now officially a candle snob. Pecksniff makes bespoke fragrances in their boutique in England, and according to their website they also make an entire range of candle scents. I went back to Home Sense in Coquitlam and bought all the Rose & Peony candles they had, and also one called Raindrops & Roses. Now I’m afraid that I’ll never be satisfied with a non-British man, I mean candle again. (I’m also a sucker for British accents)

The last few weeks have been particularly tough {is it the Mercury retrograde} and I could go on and on about “stupid people” who abuse their position of authority and power

…or I can focus on what I am grateful for. Honestly, for sanity’s sake, I MUST start smelling the roses! The 3 Things I am grateful for are my family, my iPhone, great girlfriends and wine nights.

I’ll have to check out Queen, sounds like an interesting movie. And I think with girlfriends it’s quality not quantity that’s important :)

We watched Queen last weekend too. It was such a great movie. How lush is Lisa Hayden’s hair by the way? So perfect.
