3 Things Thursday: Growing Up

Dear diary … I think it’s time to grow up.

Do you ever feeling like you are resisting growth in your life? The last few months I’ve been fighting really hard to maintain my status as “just a freelancer” but my business has been growing at alarming rates. Even though I’m excited about the business growing, and it’s a really nice feeling to be “in demand”, I’ve been resisting the growth. I originally chose self-employment as a way to be home with my son and have no boss; now I find myself managing other freelancers and dealing with clients on a daily basis. After a couple of deep conversations this week I’ve decided that it is time to get over my fear of running a big business and grow up. Not sure where that decision will take me but I’m looking forward to the ride. Are you working on any big shifts in your business/life? I would love to hear about them!

Now that my obligatory ramble is over, it’s time for those 3 things. {PS: If you’d like to play along and link up all the details are at the bottom of the post. You should do it, it’s a great way to connect with other bloggers & new readers!}

? Pike Place Market
I cannot believe that I have never explored Pike Place Market before, or that the last time I went to Seattle was 15 years ago! This weekend I got to visit the market briefly twice; once in the early morning when vendors were setting up, and once for a quick drink at the Athenian Seafood Restaurant where Tom Hanks famously sat in Sleepless in Seattle.

This is definitely a place that I need to go back to and wander aimlessly for hours. The food, the colours, the view; it was all amazing. I’m thinking that we’ll have to plan a trip back with the kids soon.

? Old Navy Pixie Pants
Four words – buy all the pants! Old Navy Pixie pants are amazing, and they are on sale for $25 right now. I just ordered the two colours above and got $20 supercash and free shipping for spending $50. I may not know algebra, but shopping math I understand and that is a good deal!

Also, this is one brand who’s emails you should sign up for and read. Last weekend they had a Saturday only sale where cardigans were only $10 each. (I may have gotten a few of those too.)

? Emma Watson He for She Speech
My new girl crush – Emma Watson. I’m sure many of you have already seen her amazing speech at the UN last week but if you haven’t please watch it, and share it with the men in your life. It’s like she says in the video; if we don’t do something about gender inequality, it will take 70 more years for women to get paid the same as their male contemporaries for the same work.

Now it’s your turn! Think of 3 interesting things you saw, did, ate or bought this week, whip up a blog post and add it to the link up below. Feel free to grab our badge, and we’d love it if you link back to one of the 3 hostesses Nisha from Love Laugh Mirch, Salma from The Write Balance or Raj from Pink Chai Living. We’ll be sure to share your post on our social feeds throughout the week!

    Emma Watson’s He for She speech was inspiring and just wonderful. I hope this movement leaps forward and doesn’t get dusted off after the hashtags start waning.

    So happy for you that your business is growing! Embrace it and best of luck :) Will be getting in touch with you soon on some advice :)
