3 Things Thursday: The India Edition

So, it’s been a bit quiet around here – but it’s definitely not quiet in India. I’ve been here for the last five days and the one thing that you are pretty much guaranteed to hear no matter what city you are in is horns! Non stop, day and night honking. Horns are used in place of indicators and brakes, and sometimes for no good reason at all. But even with all the noise, India is a wonder, a marvel, and my favourite place ever. I’ll be sharing more pictures and city by city breakdowns over the next few months, but here are three things that have caught my eye this week.

PS: Please excuse the formatting and pictures in this post … I’m working off my cell phone right now!

imageOne: Turkish Delight

I discovered these delicious candies at the duty free shop in Heathrow airport. I’ve never had them before and they are sort of a cross between a gummy bear and a marshmallow (that’s the best way I can describe them). I of course chose the rose flavour – and it was amazing. This is definitely something I will try to recreate at home!

Two: Coconut Tomato Uttapam

On our first day in India we had South Indian food at a chain restaurant called Sagar’s and I went with coconut tomato uttapam. Coconut is a flavour I rarely cook with but it was really good! Note to self: cook with coconut more often.

imageThree: Patterns, Patterns, Patterns

Everywhere I look in India I see patterns (the one above I found at the Taj Mahal). There are chevrons, paisley, scroll, damask, and basically everything else you can imagine. Being here is really making me want to go to art school!

3 things thursday

Those are my 3 Things this week and now it’s your turn to link up! I’d love to read about the three things on your mind this week. It’s really easy to join in the fun; just grab the 3 Things Thursday badge, write a blog post, then link back to either one or all of hostesses; Raj (me) at Pink Chai Living, Salma at The Write Balance, or Nisha at Love Laugh Mirch and link up below. It’s super easy and it’s a fun way to meet new people, get new readers to your blog and just share what’s happening in your world this week!

I’d heard the word ‘turkish delight’ before but totally did not think it was that!! So cool that they had a rose flavoured one! Also, you MUST cook with coconut! My mom’s family uses it a lot, being from Zanzibar. Maybe I can find some recipes for you! :)
