3 Things Thursday: Week 70

I’m starting to feel like summer 2015 is going to be the one that got away. I usually plan ahead for summer vacation, take at least one day a week off, and hang out with the kids as much as possible. This summer though has kind of been a bust. My work stuff has been keeping me so busy that I’ve just been sneaking in time for the kids and family stuff. As we reach the mid-way point of the summer I’m making the commitment to make a change. Summer 2015 will be redeemed.

So what has new and interesting in my world? I have 3 Things to share below. If you are a blogger and would like to link up and join in, all the details are at the end of this post!surrey instameet

? One: Colours of India Instameet
It’s no secret I love my city, Surrey BC, and next week on BC Day (Monday August 3rd), I’ll be co-hosting an Instameet to show it off! I’m partnering up with Tourism Surrey and Destination BC to show photographers and Instagrammers that you can find the colours of India right here my city! If you are local and interested in joining me on the tour of our local Indian market, you can get more details and RSVP here.

? Two:Kisa Sohni Mahiwal
A few weeks ago I started reading the Punjabi folk tale of Sohni Mahiwal by Fazal Shah Sayad. He’s a Punjabi author that I’ve never read before and a lot of his writing is in Urdu so it’s been a bit of a struggle to follow the story and there has been a lot of re-reading of passages, and calling mom or dad for translations, but I’m so in love with this love story right now. I highly recommend reading books or watching movies in another language sometimes, it is a beautiful experience.

? Three: Farmer’s Market Fun
Last weekend my friend Rebecca invited me out to the Haney Farmer’s Market which isn’t local for either of us. It was one of the best markets I’ve ever been to. The selection of produce, flowers, and wine was pretty amazing, and there were lots of great vendors. Honestly, I forgot how much I love shopping at farmer’s markets before the half-day trip, but I’ll definitely be checking out some more before the summer is over. 3-Things-Thursday-
