3 Things Thursday: Week 81

This week has been a good one. The guy I was hoping for was elected to run our country on Monday, I discovered new episodes of Once Upon a Time on Netflix on Tuesday, and dinner on Wednesday was a hit with both kids.

So let’s talk about 3 things that have been on my mind this week….

PS: 3 Things Thursday is a weekly link up where I share 3 things that caught my eye, or I’ve been thinking about this week.  If you are a blogger and would like to join me in the link-up, directions are at the end of the post!pink chai living

One: My Hair
If you follow me on Instagram you might know that I tried to change my hair colour a few weeks ago. I have no idea what I was thinking! I have jet black hair and professionals at a salon have had trouble colouring it, so I should have known better. Long story short – bleach killed my hair and made it very frizzy. You can see how damaged the ends are in the picture above. So now the big question is; to chop or try to repair?

After my last haircut I’ve finally been able to grow my hair out and love the length, but I don’t love the fact that it feels like sandpaper sometimes.

Two: Herbal Essences Naked Hair Products
Confession; I’m not ready to chop my hair (even though I totally acted like it was a viable option in the previous paragraph). That’s why I’m giving this Naked collection by Herbal Essences a shot. I have great hopes from the cleansing conditioner which is supposed to be a very light and moisturizing 2 in 1 shampoo.  The whole collection is sulfate and paraben free, which is just the kind of TLC I think my hair needs right now. Will report back in 4-6 weeks and let you know what the verdict is!maharani jindan kaur necklace

Three: Maharani Jindan Kaur’s Necklace
I’ve recently become obsessed with Maharani Jindan Kaur – the youngest wife of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. She is referred to as the last Sikh Queen of Punjab and has an intriguing history as a female ruler in the late 1800’s.

During my research on Jindan Kaur I learned about an emerald necklace that once belonged to her, and was auctioned off by Bonhams England in 2009. While the 55,000 pound price tag on the original was a bit steep for me, I can’t get the necklace out of my mind, so I’m doing what I do best … DIY’ing it! I’ve finally tracked down some teardrop emerald stones and I can’t wait to put it together this weekend. 3-Things-Thursday-Badge

You may already do this, but I find that coconut oil really helps calm my frizzy hair down. I soak my hair in it on Saturday morning, do stuff around the house, and then wash it out. May be worth a shot!

Thanks for the tip. I do love hair oils but I’ve been slacking on my weekly treatment lately.

I agree with Parita, coconut oil is a game changer.

I would recommend getting the hair trimmed, I know I always feel better when my hair looks healthy!
