3 Things Thursday | Week Two

Really it’s Thursday again already? The last week felt really long because I was dealing with an achy wisdom tooth that had to be extracted, but at the same time it went by way too quickly, and I didn’t get enough done.

Hopefully you had time to think of ‘3 Things’ and get a post ready to link up with me, Nisha, and Salma. We would love to get a little glimpse into your ‘life behind the blog’, and will definitely stop by to check out your post. Details on how to link up follow the post!

1. Chawal Ki Roti/Rice Flour Roti ?
If you follow me on Instagram (@pinkchai) you probably already know that I’m always trying my hand at gluten free alternatives to Indian flatbreads like roti or naan. Well, I finally found something I like – rice flour roti! It took a few tries to nail down a recipe and technique, but we’ll get a blog post up soon with all the details, I sort of ate the entire first batch before we could photograph it.

2. Extreme Fusion Fashion ?
I’ve never been very good at dressing in fusion looks. At most I might pair Indian earrings with a cocktail dress, or maybe a Punjabi jhutti with a sundress in the summer, but really desi fusion is outside of my comfort zone. I want to wear it and look effortless, instead I just look like I’m trying too hard.

Maybe this summer I’ll pull out some kurtis and pair them with skinny jeans, stack my chudiyan, and possibly convert some old duppatta into a big over the shoulder hobo bag, with mirrors and all. You never know!

3. My boy ?
Seriously, the best kid ever! This week he’s been on my mind a lot, and I can’t help but feel so proud of him. He’s growing into such a sweet, considerate, and articulate young man; all qualities I hoped he would have. He also has a mean slap shot when playing street hockey, and kills it at Mario Kart; which are equally important in the grand scheme of life, I think?

I know what you mean about the whole fusion dressing thing – I saw a girl last summer wearing skinny jeans, a white tee and black/gold khussas and she looked so cool. If I tried that I would like I forgot to change my shoes! I have had some luck with dupattas as scarves. Looking forward to hearing what works for you!

I went to the Indian market with my mom yesterday and tried on about 50 pairs of khussay in an attempt to find the perfect pair to wear with cropped jeans this summer, but nothing quite worked so I totally feel your pain!

Hi there! Great Post. I think I’ve been practicing Indian fusion fashion for years more out of laziness than anything …skinny jeans and kurti tops are my go-to indian outfit!

I love the concept of 3 things Thursday and would love to join tomorrow. Just wanted to introduce myself and tell you what a great idea this is!

Thanks for stopping by! I am starting to think kurti tops and skinny jeans are a safe way to start practising fusion fashion. Looking forward to reading your 3 Things this week :)
