L’Oreal Press on Nails: Favourite Find

LOreal-Press-on-Nails-Review-1Over the last year I’ve become a bit of a product junkie. So much so that most of the girls that work at my local Shoppers Drug Mart have gotten to know me personally. I’m just addicted to finding the next best thing, so when I saw these L’Oreal press on nails I had to bite. The last time I tried press on nails it was the early 90’s and the whole experience was a mess. They didn’t stay on, and I didn’t feel anything like this very excited young girl. Fast forward about 15 years and I found myself standing in the nail polish isle trying to spend the required amount of money to get all my bajillion bonus points (which is a whole other obsession I have) and I spotted these pretties.

The first thing I did was trim my nails down pretty short. Since the nails themselves are a sport length, which I loved, they won’t work over long nails. The next step is choosing the right size nail for each finger. Take your time with this step. I was so engrossed in my Bollywood film of choice that I originally messed up on my index finger nails and had to rip one off and start over.

LOreal-Press-on-Nails-2The kit comes with 24 nails in various sizes and corresponding stickers and size chart.Loreal-Press-on-Nails-Review3Once I had the sizes figured out it was pretty much smooth sailing. Place a sticker on your nail, add fake nail and press down. Even with stopping to take photos and notes the whole process took less than half an hour from start to finish. Just one tip; start by applying to your dominant hand. I did my left hand first and then found it very awkward to lift the adhesive sticker with the left. It might have been easier to do without the nails on it.

The box says the nails will last up to 7 days. Mine were good and secure for 4 days and then I started to notice the index finger and thumb on the right hand side were a little wobbly. I took them off carefully and used the leftover stickers to re-apply. Keep in mind that I spend up to 12 hours a day typing and updating social media from my phone for my daily work, so that is pretty impressive. On the evening of the fifth day I did notice that I had another wobbly nail so I slowly peeled them off and put them back in the box. I’m pretty sure I can get at least one more wear out of them with the extra stickers which makes the frugal fashionista in me very happy.

Some of you might be wondering – did they look fake. Not at all! In fact, I got so many compliments on these nails. From friends, strangers at the mall and a cashier at Winners who was literally mesmerized. I even let one person believe I did that complicated half moon manicure myself (bad girl!)

Loreal-Press-on-Nails-Review-4Most awkward purse holding ever – remind me never to become a hand model. The image above shows how the nails looked on day five. Pretty nice huh?

I bought my L’Oreal Press on Nails for $11.99 and they are totally worth it! (sorry I couldn’t help it). The next set I’m thinking of getting is black and white, or maybe I’ll go for the black nails with gold tips. Either way, I can definitely see more L’Oreal Colour Riche Press-On Nails in my future.

They do look cute!!! I don’t like the feeling of something on my nails, but every once in a while I like how “dressed up” my nails look with something on them. This might be a great compromise because I could wear them for something fancy and then take them off when they started bothering me. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

This is my favourite colour combo right now, I can’t get enough of it!

This is a great option for when I want to have fancy hands. I don’t normally do anything to my finger nails, but me toes always have polish. But it would be nice to step up my game with my hands. And I love that colour combo too!

Those are really cute! I too haven’t tried press on nails since my teen years and they were a disaster. Have you tried the new sticker type of nail polish that you put over your entire nail? I’m not really describing it very well but I’m sure that since you are a product junkie you’ll know what I mean. 😉

I know what you mean Crystal! I’ve only tried one set of those and they were relatively inexpensive – those were a flop. It is on my list to try stickers by Essie or L’Oreal soon and you know that I will report back when I do! Thanks for visiting:)

These are so cute! What a pretty colour combination. And I had heard that the weather was getting chilly there. Sorry to hear that.

They are definitely worth a try Tamara – I’ve seen them at Shoppers, London Drugs and Walmart…easy to find. Thanks for stopping by!
