So you might have noticed that I’ve been a little quiet on the blog and social media for the last few days – I was off on a weekend adventure with a couple of girlfriends in Seattle! We attended the International Food Bloggers Conference, stayed up late at night discussing everything from feminism and career goals, to boys and breakups, it was perfect.
There is something healing and energizing about a good conversation with a girlfriend. I often feel lighter and ready to face the world after venting a problem to a girlfriend. No need for solutions, just a little ‘get off your chest’ gab fest, a warm cup of chai and a big hug makes me a happy camper for days. The thing is; life gets busy, the kids need our attention, work stuff happens and girlfriends fall off our priority list. That’s why this week’s Chai Chat is all about Making Time for Your Girlfriends. Super excited to share it with you because two of my favourite girls Salma & Nisha are also sharing some tips in this video!

Great video! And some really good tips there. I can relate. Sometimes just booking time with girlfriends is an impossible task. I like being part of clubs – like book clubs or supper clubs – so that getting out and chatting becomes a routine. But also, signing up for fitness classes (like yoga!) makes sure I am doing two good things for my health: working out and chatting with a friend.
Working out and girl time – brilliant idea!
looks tasty
Life gets so busy sometimes, but even times when you’re tired, call up that friend to come over for tea or go out to a movie. You’ll never regret it!
Great video 🙂 I chat daily on Facebook to all of my friends and we organize a time when we plan to get together. But not nearly enough.
i make my time for my girlfriends while chatting with them on phone or web chat while doing home chores. sometimes on my off i visit them or call them. diwali is near so definitely at any cost i am going to meet them. i am a chai addict so must say my all the time meeting or visiting are the chai moments
I love it Neha! Usually when Nisha and I are on facetime we are cleaning up or cooking too – it makes the chores a little more fun too!
I make time for my girlfriends by getting together once a month with my 3 besties. We have lunch, and then coffee and dessert. A great catch-up.
Love it – a re-occuring date with girlfriends!
Over the summer, we did a lot of picnics in the park, so the kids could play and we could sit and chat (and eat).
Love that idea! Getting outdoors and chatting with girlfriends. Perfect 🙂
I have young kids so playdates are great like Salma said but I we also do outings to parks, do lunches or quick coffees!
We always text and plan a monthly outing!
I Just get the husband baby sit when I go out with girl friends and we always make sure we plan the next catch up before we depart. That way you will have something in the dialry, gives you enough time to plan, and also something to look forward to.
We have our whatsapp group chats where we’re constantly planning a girls hang out, the moment a date works for all of us, we get our husbands to baby sit! It’s important to seize the moment otherwise something or another quickly comes up. Love the Chai Chat video ladies! 🙂
As for tips it’s just a matter of making time for what is important to you, as far as I can see.
we have a girls day out at least once a month.
We try to meet up weekly, if not then at least once a month and have dinner at someone’s house.
We visit while exercising, I have a 4 bike rack and I drive around picking them up and we all bike ride together and chat while in the car, riding, and stretching, or we hike together.
We go to eat once every few weeks… nice break and time to catch up.
