My 30 for 30 Remix Goals

30 for 30 wardrobe challenge

On November 1st I’ll be starting my fourth 30 for 30 remix challenge! If you aren’t familiar with the 30 for 30 wardrobe challenge the premise is pretty simple; choose 30 pieces of clothing from your wardrobe, remix those 30 pieces into 30 outfits, wear them for 30 days in a row. The idea is to curb spending and excess clutter, shop your own wardrobe, and push your creativity. When I did my first challenge almost 7 years ago (eek!) it was hosted by Kendi. For the last few years my friend Shawna and I have been hosting the challenge a couple times a year and have named our version – moms 30 for 30. Because we are are moms, and because we think moms are stylish too!

{I love this skirt so much that it’s already been in two editions of the challenge and I’m considering it again!}

To be perfectly honest, I have a pretty small wardrobe for a fashion lover, and remixing outfits isn’t a big struggle for me. The reason I do the challenge is more about indulging myself. Whenever I do the challenge I always end up spending a few extra minutes getting dressed, doing my hair, and checking myself out in the mirror. It’s very good for my self-confidence!

This time around, I wanted to set some goals for myself though. Rather than the challenge being about just creating 30 outfits, I want to try something a little different. Before I share my goals let me be clear – if you are going to join us for the challenge (details at the bottom of the post), your goal can absolutely be creating 30 outfits. There is no wrong or right way to participate. Now that we have that out of the way, my goals…

Use my accessory collection
Guys, I have a ridiculous amount of jewellery that I’ve refused to let go over for the last 3 years, but also never wear. November is the month when it finally gets it’s moment in the sun.

Experiment with my hair
Remember how I told you about my jewellery collection 3.5 seconds ago? Ditto for my hair products, curlers, straightener, etc. It’s time to use it or loose it baby!

Create outfits I’m proud of
Again, the following statement is specific to me. Lately I’ve been feeling really lazy about my outfits. My standard work wear is jeans and tee shirt with converse. If I have a meeting I might wear cute flats and a cardigan, otherwise it’s pretty boring. I used to love creating unique and interesting outfits, mixing crazy patterns, and layering pieces – I want to bring a little creativity back to my outfits.

If you are feeling in a bit of a ‘fashion rut’, or you just want an excuse to dress up everyday, we’d love for you to join us in the challenge. All you have to do is pick 30 pieces from your wardrobe and start remixing on November 1. You can share your outfits on Instagram using the tag #moms30for30, or you can post them to your blog, or you can keep them to yourself, whatever works for you! If you are going to join us, leave a comment and let me know and I’ll be sure to check out your posts and comment.

If you are a blogger and will be playing along, feel free to use the #moms30for30 badge on your blog or posts!

Need a little more inspiration? Here’s a post on all the reasons you should do a 30 for 30, and another one on how to choose your 30 pieces.
