As I mentioned last Thursday, this is my holiday week and I’m actually in Puerta Vallarta right now. I am NOT writing from the beach, this post is pre-written.
I know it’s not Halloween, but this week’s 3 Things Thursday is all about scary things. Since I’m already dreaming about pina coladas as I type and I haven’t started packing yet, let’s dive right in (ain’t nobody got time for small talk and banter today!)
1. I bought a bikini (no you will never see a picture of me in it)
If you recall from my summer bucket list last year I’m petrified of swim suits. I’ve never really felt comfortable in them, and then having babies did all sorts of things to my body that I don’t feel the urge to show off. However, I was recently invited to participate in a shopping challenge by Coquitlam Centre and was given a $50 gift card to create an outfit and kept feeling the urge to buy a bikini. It may have had something to do with my friendJulie doing this.
I’m not sure I’ll be gutsy enough to actually wear a bikini and walk the beach (I bought a kaftan style cover-up too), but you never know. There seems to be something really powerful about the idea of embracing your body for what it is and just throwing caution to the wind. I will keep you posted on how that goes.
2. I got rid of my PC
For you to understand how scary this is, a little back story is necessary. Mr. T and I both work from home (we are business partners too). Since we don’t have a designated office, he has a computer set up in the living room and I have one in the corner of our bedroom. I’ve decided to put my computer away for the summer.
This is kind of a crazy plan because we run a social media marketing firm and everything we do is online. At the same time though, it requires me to be laser focused in the mornings before Mr. T needs his PC and get all my work done (I’m typing this post at 5:15 am). It also means I now have a craft and DIY space so my family can have the dining table back.
I have no idea how this crazy plan will turn out, or if it will work, but I’m feeling super inspired. PS: In case you case you want to learn more about the psychology behind changing your habits, check out the amazing podcast that inspired this idea here.
3. I’m now a DIY video blogger
This is scary because I don’t really like to see myself on video, but I’ve taken the leap. You may know that I’m also the Editor and Social Media Community Manager for PlanShaadi.com – an Indian wedding planning website. Well, now I’m also their DIY video blogger. Starting this month I’ll be learning how to plan and produce weekly videos with inspiring DIY ideas for the desi bride.
