30 for 30 Day 1: Double Digit Jeans

Today is day one of the latest round of the 30 for 30 challenge. This time around, Shawna and I decided to switch things up from “just for moms” to “spring time fun” – so welcome to the Spring 30 for 30! #spring30for30

If you’ve been a reader for a while you might remember some of the previous challenges I’ve participated in. The premise is simple; pick 30 pieces of clothing from your closet and create 30 outfits in 30 days. In the past I’ve always been excited by the challenge, but this time around I was feeling overwhelmed and nervous, mostly because I’ve gained some weight over the last year, and I’m not all that comfortable in my new a little bit bigger body. wpid-wp-1459550515413.jpg

I know some of you reading this post will think I’m crazy because even I know that I’m still an average sized woman – on a good day. But on a bad day, I feel like everywhere I go everyone is staring at me and my muffin top.wpid-wp-1459550571634.jpg

Strangely enough, when it comes to fashion I think of myself as a smart woman. I know the solution for my muffin top; buy jeans that fit. For months I’ve been avoiding it though, because I was afraid I might have moved into double digits. What if I have to wear size 10 jeans, would the world implode? Would people stop and stare at me on the street? Probably not, but insecurities don’t understand rational logic.

Well, thanks to this 30 for 30 challenge I signed up for a few months ago, and the sudden need for daily photographs – I bought jeans that fit. And here’s what I learned; I’m a size 10 at Old Navy and a size 12 at the GAP, and the world is still intact.wpid-wp-1459550589312.jpg

So my goal for this round of the 30 for 30 is to be kind to this slightly larger body of mine, and not making any negative comments when I see my pictures. Yes, all that junk in the trunk belongs to me, and I’m learning to be proud of it.

Now that we have that out of the way, let’s talk fashion inspiration…there is an amazing group of ladies joining in on the challenge this time around so be sure to check them out too!

I’m in the same place as you after a challenging last year and a half. I’ve gone up 3 sizes and hit the double digits too…. Size means nothing – the importance lays in our mindset. An understanding of fit and draping helps too….

Beautifully written. This challenge has also made me face my fears. I also went jeans shopping and was a couple sizes bigger than I was last year. It can be discouraging but I’ve realized it is not a big deal, I’m still healthy.
