My Favourite Drug Store Finds for Dry Skin

My skin tends to lean towards the dry side all year, and as soon as the weather turns in the fall it get’s worse! No matter how much water I drink it starts to feel dry and parched, so much so that that it hurts at times!

Over the years I’ve tested a lot of products and narrowed it down to this list of my favourite drug store finds for dry skin. These six products get some love from me pretty much everyday in the winter because they work, and they are easy on the pocketbook. {In fact, this post was originally written in December 2014, and the same items are still in my bathroom vanity in 2018!}

vaseline lip therapy

Vaseline Intensive Care Dry Skin Repair:
At just 10 bucks a bottle this lotion gets used quite freely at our house. The kids and Mr. T love it too. I use it because it’s not greasy and it smells great.

Vaseline Lip Therapy Balm (Cocoa Butter):
I have tried every type of lip balm ever invented {or come pretty close} and this one is the best. That is all.

ponds dry skin cream

Ponds Dry Skin Cream:
First of all; this stuff smells amazing! Secondly; it moisturizes like a boss. If it is windy out, this is the face cream I’m using. It literally creates a barrier between the cold harsh wind and my skin.

Olay Total Effects Moisturizer & Olay Total Effects Eye Cream:
This combo is what I use at night before bed and my skin feels moisturized but never greasy, and my skin just soaks them up. This is the first time I bought an anti-aging product and I’m pretty impressed with the results I’ve had.

Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant:
Okay so this one is kind of on the pricey side, but it’s still a drug store find – London Drugs carries it. The reason I love using this two to three times a week is that it gently removes dead dry skin, and the fresh skin really soaks up the moisturizer or cream I apply.

I rarely recommend a higher end skincare product but if you have sensitive skin, this one is worth a try. If you don’t want to splurge you can also use the St. Ive’s Apricot Scrub every few days.

That’s my dry skin maintenance routine, now it’s your turn to share your favourites. The product junkie in me would love to hear what your favourite cold weather skincare products are so that  I can try them out! So leave me a comment and let me know what you use.

    Gosh, I love the drugstore. So many great finds at reasonable prices. Thanks for sharing. I really don’t have any cold weather products because my skin doesn’t get dry, I don’t change up my products seasonally. I do microdermabrasion weekly. Happy New Year!
