Office Productivity Hack: Drink More Water + Giveaway

Am I the only person who struggles with drinking water every day? Forget consuming 8 glasses, just having one or two feels like a big chore. It’s not like I have to make the water, or it requires special skills to drink it, or it’s not readily available, so really there is no excuse. I just haven’t prioritized H2O until a few months ago.

Surprisingly, my motivation was not clear skin, better immunity, or headache prevention (which are all needed in my life). I started drinking water so I could increase my productivity at work. I was reading some random string of health and wellness posts  and came across a study that showed even mild dehydration can have a significant impact on your energy level, clarity of thought, and productivity. I’ve literally spent thousands of dollars on productivity education, books, tools etc and never even considered that dehydration might have something to do with the 3pm slump!

As soon as I decided to get on the ‘drink more water’ bandwagon I decided to push my new idea on my co-workers too. The tap water in our building has a funky taste, and we don’t have a community recycling bin so plastic water bottles often end up in the garbage (big no-no). We were considering a stand water cooler when the folks at London Drugs reached out to introduce the 7-cup PUR Water Pitcher. Since we don’t have much extra floor space in our office, we jumped at the chance to test out a smaller option.

For us a filtered water pitcher like PUR is the perfect solution. It doesn’t take up a lot of space, is easy to use, and the water tastes great. We just fill it up with tap water, and refill our glasses and water bottles throughout the day. It’s also pretty nice looking and doesn’t create visual clutter so we just keep it sitting on a shelf, or on our big group work table all day – which makes it more likely that we’ll drink water.

While I originally set out to be more productive by increasing my water intake, I also learned a lot about water safety, and why filtration is important. If you want to learn more, the PUR website is a great resource.

DID DRINKING WATER MAKE ME MORE PRODUCTIVE?

The simple answer is yes. But, there are a few caveats.
