As much as I love dressing up (and shopping), I’m the first to admit that I often get stuck in a style rut. I’ll go through phases where I wear skinny jeans, flats, and flowy shirt, or a-line dresses and boots for weeks on end. Lately my go-to’s have been leggings and a kurti, or jeans and a tee paired with bangles from India; what can I say I’m a creature of habit! So, when the folks at Harley Davidson Canada asked me if I wanted to try a pair of shoes from their new line, I thought it was as good an excuse as any to shake up my wardrobe a little.
I’ve never owned a pair of cowboy boots before, and these babies basically sat in a box on my bedroom floor for a few weeks while I dreamt up ways to style them. My natural inclination was to pair them with a dress – because that’s how I roll, but I decided to go with a high waisted skinny instead. (Although I’m sure they’ll come out to play with this dress soon enough)These boots are absolutely not something that I would have picked for myself. I would have gone for something safe and practical, but I’m really glad that I got to try something outside of my normal. Somehow I felt like I walked a little taller, and felt a little bad-a*s in these boots! That’s to be expected from Harley Davidson boots, but not really from a suburban mom. That’s the beauty of fashion, it lets you experiment and express different sides of your personality through clothing. Now that these new boots are starting to grow on me, I’m thinking I might need to visit the Cloverdale Rodeo this year … because a girl always needs an excuse to pull out her cowboy boots right?
