Everybody loves a well planned family photo. The outfits match, the poses are adorable, and if you’ve really done your homework the leaves are a perfect autumnal shade that cannot be recreated in photoshop. We did photos like that a couple of years ago, and I love them so much we had them turned into canvas prints.
For our ‘relaxed’ photoshoot I spent hours at the mall finding shirts that sort of matched, but didn’t match too much. Don’t even get me started on how long it took to find all those tennis shoes! But they came out just the way I wanted.
Earlier this year, I was asked to comment on a news story and the paper asked for a family photo. When I went hunting I realized the only family pics I had were two years old. That is kind of crazy considering one our best friends in a photographer and takes all the pics for this site. How did we miss an entire year of pics in that case?
{When you take a family photo and realize the kid needs new pants…in my defense, he is growing like a weed!}
The deadline was tight and we scrambled to take these pics. Everyone is wearing what they were actually wearing on that day. We don’t match, the kids weren’t particularly happy about getting pulled away from Minecraft, and I was exhausted from a full day of work. The funny thing though; I love these pics too. They probably won’t end up on a canvas in the living room, but they will be proudly displayed on my desk making me smile.
So here we are, the Pink Chai Family #IRL. As always, a shout out to our friend and colleague Aziz Dhamani for the awesome pics.
At the end of the shoot I tried to take an outfit pic and Armaan totally photobombed me….
Beautiful family – sometimes the best photos are the #irl ones – totally natural and lovely!
